Out of Control: Cop Shot Family’s Dog After Waving Gun at Children
An Oklahoma family is outraged after a Logan County Sheriff’s Deputy reportedly pointed his gun at their two young children before kicking and fatally shooting their dog.
Cindy Wickham was watching her nephews in the front yard when a local sheriff’s deputy approached their fence after responding to reports of screaming in the neighborhood.
Wickham also had dogs, Charlie and Joker, in the yard and wasn’t sure how they would react to the deputy. She says “that’s when I said ‘Don’t come in’ and he just went ahead and went in the fence.”
According to the family, one of the dogs came up to the cop and sniffed him. According to Fox reports, “the deputy allegedly drew his gun and pointed it at the dog and family members.”
Wickham said “it just happened so fast that I couldn’t do nothing, I couldn’t prevent it. The only thing I could do was put my nephews behind my back.”
The deputy first kicked and then shot and killed their dog, Charlie.
Kaci Malicoat, the family’s neighbor, saw the entire incident. She says “I could see him waving the gun back and forth at her and the dog. I said ‘why did you shoot the dog’ and the deputy said ‘the mother f***ing dog bit me.’”
Wickham says “I’m hurt because I couldn’t prevent my nephews from seeing that.” She says she wants the deputy taken off the streets and an apology from the police.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and would not comment on the incident. The deputy’s name has not been released.
