Republican Candidate Could Win Despite Being Convicted Over ‘Bizarre Sex Fetish Break-Ins’
A Republican candidate for a state House seat in Michigan faces an uphill climb in his race, and his young age and party affiliation are the least of his problems considering he is still on parole for a series of “sexually motivated break-ins.”
According to court records, 24-year-old Jordan Haskins is on parole after serving a prison stint for a series of four “bizarre, sexually motivated break-ins he had committed in Saginaw – the same area he now seeks to represent in the state House.”
Haskins was arrested for trespassing on public and private property on four separate occasions between 2010 and 2011. During the break-ins, Haskins said he damaged vehicles because the sound of the cranking engine aroused him.
Haskins was arrested after he pulled spark plugs and wires out of police vehicles and masturbated while cranking the engine. He says he picked up the habit online.
“I was in a messed-up state of mind mentally and emotionally when I did what I did,” Haskins says. “That’s the only way I can even explain it.”
“I feel that, yes, I’ve made mistakes in my past,” the Republican hopeful said. “But I’m working to correct those things and to try at least to put in my small part and help others in my community and try to make things right.”
Haskins’ Facebook profile bills him as a “pro-life, pro-family and freedom loving American.”
He says, “I’ve realized that my gift that I have is in government and politics. I’ve found my niche, my passion.”
Haskins will face the winner of the Michigan 95th House District Democratic primary in November.
