NYPD Cop Caught Putting 7-Months-Pregnant Woman in Chokehold For ‘Illegal Grilling’
After the New York Police Department came under fire for using an illegal chokehold on a man suspected of selling illegal cigarettes and killing him, another officer was caught putting a 7-months-pregnant woman in the same chokehold on Saturday over “illegal grilling.”
An advocacy group has released photos of an NYPD officer putting 27-year-old Rosan Miller in an illegal chokehold that has been banned since 1993 while her young daughter watches the arrest from the stoop.
The officer was reportedly in the neighborhood for a domestic call when he says he witnessed “illegal grilling.”
“This was all over a grill,” former city councilman Charles Barron told the New York Daily News. “This is about grilling in front of her house.”
Miller was arrested, as was her 34-year-old husband Moses and her brother John Miller.
Moses Miller has been charged with resisting arrest and obstruction. John Miller has been charged with harassment and obstruction of justice.
Rosan was ultimately just given a summons for disorderly conduct.
Barron has called for the family’s release to be expedited.
Earlier this month, 43-year-old Eric Garner died after NYPD officers put him in the chokehold while trying to arrest him for selling loose cigarettes.
Despite the outcry, two more officers were caught putting a man accused of not paying his subway fare in a chokehold just days later.
Critics have slammed NYPD officers over their overuse of force, particularly in cases where no arrest is warranted.
