VIDEO: Rand Paul Literally Runs Away as Immigrant Activist Confronts Tea Party Pols

When an immigration rights activist confronted Iowa Congressman Steve King at a local diner, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul made a swift exit, wanting nothing to do with the DREAMer.

In the video, DREAM Action Coalition co-director Erika Andiola introduces herself to King and Paul who are sitting and eating.

As soon as Andiola says “I’m actually a DREAMer, myself,” Paul makes like a tree and leaves the table, leaving King to fend for himself.

Last Friday, King, the Republicans’ point man on the immigration issue, and the GOP passed a bill to try to kill the DACA program.

“I know you want to get rid of DACA,” Andiola told King, handing him her own identification card she got through the program. “If you really want to get rid of it, just go ahead and rip mine.”

“This is not what I do,” King replied. “You’re very good at English.”

“I was raised in the United States,” Andiola shot back.

“You understand the English language,” King said. “But you’re saying something that’s not true. Are you a drug smuggler?”

“No, I’m a student,” Andiola laughs back.

“You understand English, your ears work too, so listen,” King says. “I was speaking about drug smugglers. Drug smugglers only.”

“You’re the one trying to get rid of DACA,” Andiola accused. “That’s why I’m here. I’ve gotten so much from DACA.”

“The president has no Constitutional authority to do what he has done,” King continues. “The president has violated the Constitution, he’s eroded the rule of law, and there are many people who are suffering because of this. This country should not be a country that’s run by one king, Barack Obama, deciding what the law should be.”
