Florida Man Shoots Pregnant Wife in Back of the Head, Claims Self-Defense
A Florida man has been arrested after he fatally shot his pregnant wife.
Port St. Lucie police say that 21-year-old Chekingson Sinclair called 911 after he shot his wife, 24-year-old Latwassa Argrett, following a domestic dispute.
Police found the pregnant wife dead at the scene when they arrived.
Sinclair has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, murder of an unborn child, and tampering with evidence.
Police say Sinclar was arguing with Argrett and threw her phone into the toilet. She then reportedly got a knife and threatened Sinclair. Then she went into her bedroom and slammed the door.
That’s when police say Sinclar got his gun from underneath a recliner and confronted Argrett.
He says she lunged at him with a knife, causing him to fire. When she got up from the first shot, he says he shot her in the head.
It took three hours before Sinclair called the police.
Upon examination, police determined that Argrett was shot at close range in the back of the head.
Police say Sinclair did admit that he wanted to kill Argrett but claims he shot her in self-defense.
He is being held at the St. Lucie County Jail.
