Texas School Official Posts ‘I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas’ With KKK Photo, Says ‘I’m Not Racist’

A Texas school board official is facing a hearing after posting a photo of a Ku Klux Klan member with the caption ‘I’m dreaming of a white Christmas’ on his Facebook.

Chris Harris, of the Hooks Independent School Board, has apologized for the post and has deactivated his Facebook account but insists he isn’t racist.

“News travels fast and you have to be careful, because it can do a lot of damage to you and others,” school board Superintendent Ronnie Thompson told KTAL. “People can get in trouble quickly.”

The board will not meet on December 15 to vote on whether Harris will be removed from his position if he hasn’t resigned by then.

“They govern me,” Thompson said. “That is who I answer to. They govern each other. It is in their hands.”

Harris, an electrical contractor, was elected to the school board two years ago.
