Fox Anchor Complains About Lady Gaga’s ‘Jigaboo Music’

A Cleveland news anchor is under fire after she complained about Lady Gaga’s “jigaboo music” on Monday morning’s show.

On Monday, Fox Cleveland’s WJW New in the Morning anchor Wayne Dawson discussed Lady Gaga’s Oscar tribute to the Sound of Music, saying, “Lady Gaga, surprising a lot of people last night with this tribute to Sound of Music,” adding that actress Julie Andrews called the performance “wonderful.”

Co-anchor Kristi Capel jumped in, saying, “It’s really hard to hear her voice with all the jigaboo music – whatever you want to call it – jigaboo!”

Dawson, who’s black, laughed it off and said, “She has a nice voice.”

“She has a gorgeous voice,” Capel replied. “I never knew. Very nice.”

Capel was slammed on Twitter for using a term defined as an “extremely disparaging and offensive term for black people.”

According to culture blogger Rafael Otto, the term was used to describe dancing black slaves in the 1800s.

Capel tweeted an apology after the show, writing, “I apologize if I offended you, I had no idea it was a word or what it meant. Thank you for watching.”

So…she used a word she didn’t know existed? Oh.
