Arkansas Republican Gave Up His Adopted 6-Year-Old to Sexual Predator Who Raped Her
An Arkansas lawmaker is under fire after it was revealed that he “rehomed” his adopted daughters to a house where one of them, a 6-year-old, was raped.
The Arkansas Times has released an expose about Rep. Justin Harris and his Christian pre-school that employed the sexual predator that later raped the 6-year-old.
Reporters from the Times asked Harris why he gave up his daughters to a sexual predator without checking his background, to which Harris quoted the Bible, saying, “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.”
“You don’t know what we’ve been through this past year,” Harris told the Times. “You have no idea what my family has been through. I don’t care what the people of Arkansas think about me. I don’t care if I lose my position. I care what my wife thinks about me, and I care what my three sons think about me.”
According to the Times, Harris and his wife Marsha adopted two little girls in 2012 after they were placed in foster care because a male relative sexually abused the older girl.
Within a year, though, the Harrises gave the girls to Eric and Stacey Francis, though no reason was given to the paper.
Within several months, police discovered the older girl was raped by Eric Francis while his wife was out of state.
Francis admitted to the rape and has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Francis was also employed at Harris’ daycare center, Growing God’s Kingdom Preschool.
The school has already found itself under investigation for taking state and federal funds meant to go to non-religious institutions and may now face more legal scrutiny over funding.
