Georgia Man Roams Atlanta Airport With Loaded AR-15 In Case ‘Something Might Happen’

A Georgia man dropping his daughter off at the airport wandered around with an AR-15 in case “something might happen,” much to the concern of police and security.

WSB-TV reports that Jim Cooley brought his rifle, along with a loaded 100-round drum, to the Atlanta airport while he and his wife dropped their daughter off.

Cooley complained to WSB that despite Georgia’s insanely lenient open carry laws, he was stopped several times by security.

“You can carry in unsecured areas of the airport,” Cooley explained. “Past TSA, never.”

Cooley says that he was asked by a fire marshal why he had a gun, was asked by a police officer if he had a permit, and was photographed by officers as he went to his car.

Cooley took to Facebook to complain some more, adding, “It shouldn’t matter what I carry, just that I choose to carry. You never know where something might happen.”

Asked by a reporter if that reasoning makes it okay to alarm people, Cooley responded, “If you don’t exercise your rights, the government doesn’t have any hesitation taking them away.”
