Donald Trump to Sue Univision for Dumping Miss USA Because It’s ‘Common Sense’ Mexicans Are Rapists
Billionaire Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he will sue Univision after the channel dropped his Miss USA pageant citing his offensive remarks about Mexican immigrants in his campaign announcement speech.
Earlier this month Trump said during his announcement that the US is a “dumping ground for everyone else’s problems.”
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” Trump said, as if the Mexican government is ordering people to immigrate to the US. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
This week, Univision slammed Trump’s comments as they announced they would no longer broadcast his Miss USA pageant.
“At Univision, we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country,” a statement from the network said.
On Wednesday, Trump appeared to Fox News to defend his comments and vow to sue the network.
“That’s what’s happening!” Trump insisted. “Do you think they’re sending their best and their finest over here?”
“Of course, they are criminals in many cases,” Trump continued. “Why would I change that statement? Ask the border guards who’s pouring in, and believe me you won’t be happy when you find out. And by the way, that’s common sense. It’s common sense who it coming.”
