A Day After Sandra Bland’s Death, 18-Year-Old Kindra Chapman Mysteriously Died in Jail
A day after Sandra Bland was found dead in her jail cell in Texas, an Alabama teen died in her jail cell under similarly mysterious circumstances.
On July 14, police arrested 18-year-old Kindra Chapman after she allegedly stole a cell phone.
Records show she was booked at around 6:30 pm.
At 7:50 pm, Chapman was found unresponsive in her jail cell.
As with Bland, authorities say that Chapman hanged herself using a bed sheet.
Also like Bland, Chapman’s family isn’t buying the explanation that Chapman killed herself within an hour of being booked for what appears to be no reason.
Chapman’s mom, Kathy Brady, says police killed her daughter.
Her cousin, Otis Chapman, told WBRC, “I want answers, like where was she for 45 minutes. There’s surveillance all around… She would not harm herself at all… In my heart, she wouldn’t do nothing like that.”
“She had a family that loved her,” her aunt, Leslie Chapman, told WBRC. “She had unconditional love from all around. She would never do nothing like that, she was happy.”
