Richie Incognito Racist Video Goes Viral

The racism scandal that Miami Dolphins lineman Richie Incognito is involved in has just gotten much worse for him. He was accused last week of sending racist texts and voicemails to teammate Jonathan Martin, which included calling him a “half-ni**er.” Incognito has denied making racist comments, but TMZ has posted a video of him yelling the N-word earlier this year.

The video shows him shirtless and screaming at a pool hall in Fort Lauderdale, Flor. “Mike Pouncey, NI**A,” he yelled, announcing that his teammate is in the bar. The Miami Dolphins have suspended Incognito indefinitely for the racist texts and voicemails, but have not commented on the video.

CBS Sports reported that Incognito referred to the biracial Martin as a “half-ni**er,” in addition to threatening to both track down and harm members of his family. Incognito has not released a statement about the racist allegations against him, but denied them on his Twitter and page and wrote, “I want my name CLEARED.”

The Dolphins had released a statement which called the bullying reports “based on speculation and not been presented to us as a concern from Jonathan or anyone else internally.” But after suspending Incognito, they released another statement yesterday which read: “We believe in maintaining a culture of respect for one another, and as a result we believe this decision is in the best interest of the organization at this time.”

Of course, Incognito is hardly the first pro athlete to find themselves in a racism scandal. Last year, Swiss soccer player Michel Morganella was kicked off his country’s Olympic team for tweeting that South Koreans were a “bunch of mentally handicapped retards.” In 2010, boxing champion Floyd Mayweather referred to Asian fighter Manny Pacquiao as a “yellow chump” and ordered that he “cook me some rice.”
