Trayvon Martin Shooter George Zimmerman Arrested For Aggravated Assault
George Zimmerman was arrested for a domestic violence dispute yesterday in which he allegedly pointed a shotgun at the face of his pregnant girlfriend. It’s the latest in a string of controversial incidents for the man acquitted in the murder of Trayvon Martin last July. He faced a judge this afternoon and was granted a $9,000 bond, but the judge made several provisions for bond being granted.
Zimmerman must stay 1,500 feet away from his girlfriend at all times, have no contact with her, and relinquish possession of all firearms and shotguns. He is also forbidden to leave the state of Florida and must wear a monitoring device that will track his location at all times. Because Zimmerman’s lawyer said his client suffers from financial hardship, the judge waived the cost of the device.
The arrest took place in Orlando, Flor., after Zimmerman allegedly pointed a double barrel shotgun at his girlfriend and ordered her out of the house before barricading the front door behind her. She later told police that when she asked him to leave, he began to destroy property in the house. Zimmerman also revealed in the 911 call that the girlfriend is currently pregnant with his child.
Police eventually forced their way into the home and placed him under his arrest. Since his acquittal in the shooting of Trayvon Martin last July, Zimmerman has received multiple speeding tickets, was photographed touring a firearms actor, and had his wife file for divorce. His mother-in-law also filed a police report last September and claimed that Zimmerman stole furniture and a TV from her house.
