Why Did Michelle Obama Swear At Will Ferrell?
Did Michelle Obama actually swear at Will Ferrell? The hilarious actor said that the First Lady swore at him, but it was all in good fun as she was quoting lines from one of his movies, The Landlord. Ferrell was in Washington, D.C. to promote his next film Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, as well as the Newseum’s “Anchorman: The Exhibit,” which opened last month.
The actor made an appearance last Tuesday and spoke about the hilarious moment that Obama swore at him, indicating that she’s a fan of one of the movie’s most infamous skits. “We got to go one of the White House Christmas parties. And we got to sit next to the first lady. And she said, ‘I just have to tell you, me and my staff — this landlord? Oh my gosh. I love that thing,” he said. “So she’s sitting with her staff, watching The Landlord. And I think she literally said, ‘Bitch, where’s my money?’”
Ferrell has been doing plenty to promote the movie besides tell funny stories about Mrs. Obama. He recently joined a North Dakota newscast dressed as his Anchorman character, Ron Burgundy, and also called a professional curling event in Canada as Burgundy. He intended to do the same thing today on ESPN’s Sportscenter. However, ESPN canceled the scheduled appearance at the last minute due to a breaking news conference scheduled regarded the sexual assault allegations against college quarterback Jameis Winston. The network confirmed via their Twitter account that “there is no reschedule date for Ron Burgundy.”
“I keep laughing at it, because this really is an aberration,” said Ferrell. “You’re not going to see Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow going on The Tonight Show. It’s a character that lends itself perfectly to this, but I don’t think I can think of any other characters from past movies I’ve done [who could do this] . . . Another studio will be like, ‘Oh, you’ll do all this crazy stuff, right?’ No, that was a one-off.”
