Did ‘Craigslist Killer’ Miranda Barbour Lie About Murdering 22 People?
The shocking claims of ‘Craigslist Killer’ Miranda Barbour that she murdered well over 22 people could be a pathetic ploy for attention. After declaring that she went on a cross-country killing spree in six different states, including Alaska and North Carolina, police officials in Alaska have said there is no evidence she murdered anyone in their state. Authorities are verifying her claims that the 19-year-old began killing people six years ago after joining a Satanic cult, but remain skeptical.
“At this time the Alaska State Troopers are not aware of any information — beyond Barbour’s comments quoted in the press — or evidence that would implicate Barbour with a homicide committed in Alaska,” read a statement from the agency. “We will follow up on any credible lead that is provided to us.”
Barbour has admitted to murdering Troy LaFerrara after stabbing him 20 times last November with the help of her husband, Elytte. Both of them currently face the death penalty for that crime. Miranda and LaFerrara met through Craigslist, where she regularly offered “companionship” services (with the consent of her husband) that cost anywhere from $50-$850 per hour.
Miranda has a one-year-old son and the father of their child is currently deceased, which has raised questions over whether she also killed him as well. But while she doesn’t want the death penalty because she believes it’s “cruel and inhumane punishment,” Miranda said she believes she should spend the rest of her life in jail. “I know I will never see my husband again and I have accepted that,” she said. “I know I had a 20-year window where I would possibly get out of jail and I don’t want that to happen. If I were to be released, I would do this again.”
