Michele Bachmann: America Isn’t Ready For A Woman President
Michele Bachmann has enraged women across America by declaring that the U.S. isn’t ready to have a woman serve as president. The controversial conservative declared that “white guilt” was the only reason Barack Obama won his two terms in office and that same courtesy would not be extended to Hilary Clinton. Bachmann declared that if Clinton runs in 2016, her gender would be a guaranteed roadblock to ever taking office.
“I think there was a cachet about having an African-American president because of guilt. People don’t hold guilt for a woman,” she said. “I don’t think there is a pent-up desire to see a woman in the Oval Office.”
Of course, Bachmann’s own presidential campaign in 2012 was highly unsuccessful. She announced her candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 2011, but finished in sixth place when the caucuses were held on Jan. 6, 2012, and she suspended the campaign shortly afterwards. She announced last May that she will not seek re-election when her current term in Congress runs out at the end of the year.
But even if Clinton does run, the Republican congresswoman said there are already plenty of strikes against her besides gender. Bachmann accused Clinton of being “the godmother of Obamacare, poor handling of the the 2012 attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and even trying to create her own health plan when her husband was in office.
Last month, Bachmann threatened to sue Obama over his State of the Union address, in which he declared that he will act unilaterally on a number of issues. “If he wants to move forward with this unilateral activity, he better be prepared for the lawsuit that the United States Congress will bring to him,” she declared. “He may think he’s king, he may declare he’s a king, but that’s not what he is under the constitution.”
