Dobson Vows to Shut Doors Rather than ‘Kill Babies’ Under Obamacare
James Dobson has vowed to close his ministry’s doors if forced to be “complicit in the killing babies” under Obamacare. The evangelical author and founder of Focus on the Family (FOTF) lashed out against the new health care regulations which he says include an “abortion pill mandate” during his Dec.16 radio broadcast.
“We are fighting for the lives of unborn children,” the ministry said in a promo for the program, stressing that the Dobson will not stand for regulations that require employers to pay for insurance that covers “abortion inducing drugs.”
Dobson, who was joined on the program by his son, Ryan, as well as his attorney, Martin Nussbaum, discussed the upcoming lawsuit filed by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) on Dobson’s behalf.
Alan Sears, ”thinks that our case is one of the most important religious liberty cases ever to be adjudicated,” Dobson stressed, referring to the ADF president.
Dobson further recalled Sears told him, “Never before has the federal government required individuals and businesses to kill human beings and get fined if you don’t.”
Ryan Dobson added that the lawsuit was really about standing up for what is right. “It’s important to stand up for righteousness in the culture and to save the lives of millions of babies that are going to be killed because of this,” the younger Dobson said. “We have to do this.”
The lawsuit filed by the ADF seeks for religious organizations that object be ruled exempt from covering the so-called morning after pill and similar contraceptives under their employer-offered insurance. Currently, those who do not abide by that law are subject to fines.
“You either have to provide the benefit that you’re morally opposed to or you have to pay a fine of $36,500 per employee, per year,” Nussbaum, Dobson’s attorney explained.
Recently, in a similar lawsuit filed by Christian-owned Hobby Lobby failed after a judge ruled against the craft store chain, ordering the company comply or face 1.3 million dollars daily in fines beginning Jan. 1 if they choose not to comply.
In response to the decision Hobby Lobby CEO David Green said, “It is by God’s grace and provision that Hobby Lobby has endured.”
Dobson however, said, if faced to choose between paying fines or paying for the ‘abortion pill’, he will shut his doors for good.
“Well, we will close the doors if we have to do this! Rather than be complicit in the killing of babies, we will go away,” the Focus on the Family founder said. “I mean, it’s as simple as that.”
