Right Wing Pundits: ‘Grammy Awards Turned into Satan-Honoring, Freakfest, Spitball Aimed at God’
Right wing pundits are up in arms after a marriage ceremony, featuring both gay and straight couples, played center stage at this year’s Grammy ceremony. Queen Latifah presided over the legal wedding of 33 couples on a chapel-inspired stage during the telecast while performers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed their hit, “Same Love” while joined by Madonna and a large choir for a mash-up rendition of “Open Your Heart.”
“The right-wing conservatives think it’s a decision/And you can be cured with some treatment and religion/Man-made rewiring of a predisposition,” Macklemore rapped during the high energy ceremony, taking direct aim at the religious right. “Playing God, aw nah here we go/America the brave still fears what we don’t know/And God loves all his children, is somehow forgotten/But we paraphrase a book written 3500 years ago.”
Not surprisingly, those opposed to same-sex marriage fired back at the prime time broadcast calling it evil and unsuitable for television. “The themes of the Grammy’s were designed to honor Satan,” right-wing conspiracy theorist Jim Garrow wrote on his Facebook page. “Christians who remained in their seats should be ashamed. It is a difficult thing to do when you are confronted with evil but we must show the world what our standards are.”
Erik Rush, who admitted he had not even watched the show said the song “Same Love” made him want to vomit. He added that the performers responsible for the Grammy display were a “a disgusting pack of subverts” who want America “shepherded down the path to Hell.”
Yet the most colorful condemnation came from Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Association who demanded the display as a “gawdy spitball hurled in the all-seeing eye of a holy God” bookended by Beyonce’s soft-porn performances and featuring the “Dorian Gray-esque” Madonna.
“It was a sorry, sick, non-serious ceremony that looked like something from the garish dystopian world of the Hunger Games, replete with a cheering sycophantic audience, faux-stained glass windows, a faux-choir, a homosexual faux-pastorette, and “Madonna” with her faux-face,” Higgins said of the Grammy Award show’s mass marriage ceremony. “It was a non-wedding festooned with all the indulgent gimcrackery of Satan’s most alluring playground: Hollywood.”
