Rush Limbaugh Joins Shoe Truther Chorus: ‘Hillary Clinton Staged Shoe Attack’
Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh has joined a growing chorus of ‘Shoe Truthers’ demanding that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton staged a shoe-throwing incident.
Last week, the federal government charged a 32-year-old woman for launching a shoe at Clinton during a Las Vegas event. Alison Michelle Ernst surrendered to authorities immediately after throwing the athletic shoe, but did not give a reason for her shoe toss, giving plenty room for conservatives to speculate a conspiracy theory was the real reason behind the attack.
Claiming he did not care one way or the other about what Hillary Clinton did or did not do, during his Monday show Limbaugh said that something does seem a bit fishy about Clinton’s reaction to the shoe incident.
“I’ve got people telling me her reaction wasn’t natural,” the conservative host said. “I haven’t cared enough to go try to find it. I really haven’t…Maybe it’s because in my subconscious I think it was staged or set up or whatever.”
He added that these lies and conspiracy are business as usual for liberals. “Look, folks, I know these people so well that I do not attach much genuineness to them at all,” he said.
The shoe conspiracy theory Limbaugh doesn’t care about (but can’t help but mention) can be traced to a growing speculation among conservatives which Arthur Louis spelled out in a recent blog on Bernard Goldberg’s website.
“So it would not be stretching logic to suppose that Hillary arranged to have the shoe thrown at her,” he wrote, speculating that the move may have been intended to mimic a prior presidential attack. “Remembering the Bush incident [when an Iraqi journalist threw two shoes at President George W. Bush], she may have calculated that this would make her seem presidential.”
Louis also theorized that the next time anyone saw Louis, it would be stuffing envelopes for the Democrat’s cause, not that Rush Limbaugh really cares that much what happens to the shoe attacker.
“Somebody threw a shoe at Hillary. Big whoop!” the talk show host said, dismissing the incident as Democratic drama and nothing more.
