Texas Pastor: Jesus Might Love the Little Children, But He Wants a Border Fence Too

Pastor Robert Jeffress is no fan of Barack Obama. In fact, he has accused the White House’s current occupant of ushering in the age of the Antichrist.

Still, he seemed a bit perplexed about why Obama did not invite him to a recent meeting of faith leaders to discuss the crisis of migrant children crossing over into the U.S. border. After all, according to the megachurch pastor, he knows exactly what Jesus would do to help stop the kids from seeking refuge in America.

“I doubt I would be on the president’s invitation list or even his Christmas card list because of some of the things I’ve said on Fox,” Jeffress told Fox host Steve Doocy, calling the fact Obama hasn’t asked for his advice ‘curious’. “Frankly, I don’t care whether the president goes to the border, I want him to secure the border. And he has the ability to do that right now.”

He added that the President seems to have no fear of bypassing Congress, so he should just “issue one of the executive orders to protect our borders, and to protect children in the process.”

He also suggested that Obama is actually luring the migrant kids into a dangerous trap by keeping the borders open.

“What we are doing by having these unsecured borders is we are enticing children and mothers to make this dangerous journey,” Jeffress stressed. “Yes, we want to show compassion to the children who are here, but the most compassionate thing we can do is secure the borders.”

Turning to the Christians in the audience, he then assured them that sealing up the borders and keeping migrant children out is exactly what Jesus would want us to do, even though Jesus never actually talked about barring kids in the Gospel.

He did say,  though, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”

Jeffress, however, said while his Lord and Savior might have said that, he never meant it to apply to migrant kids, especially when when have our own American kids to protect.

“Yes, Jesus loved children, but he also respected law. He said, render unto Caesar the things that are Caesars,” the pastor preached, “So, we need to do both. Show compassion, but secure the borders.”

What a twisted argument this is. Jesus was all about love and compassion. Jeffries is all about hate and exclusivity. Since when does God favor U.S. children over other American children? This is nuts.
