A Hispanic Man Walks into Polling Place, Conservatives Can’t Wait to Shout Voter Fraud
A man seen in a surveillance video at an Arizona polling place was doing absolutely nothing wrong. That is not how conservatives tell the story however.
In fact when Glenn Beck’s The Blaze caught wind of the video, they quickly posted it with the headline “Surveillance video apparently catches guy doing something at the ballot box that left Republican monitor stunned.”
Of course, some of it was true. A.J. LaFaro, the chairman of the Maricopa County Republican Committee was actually horrified that the man – seen wearing a Citizens for Better Arizona (CBA) shirt – walked in with a box full of absentee ballots from Latino voters.
He even called the box-wielding man “a vulgar, direspectful, violent thug that has no respect for our laws. I would have followed him to the parking lot to take down his tag number but I feared for my life.”
“I believe it’s inconceivable,” LaFaro continued in a rant recorded in the Arizona Daily Independent, “unacceptable and should be illegal for groups to collect hundreds, if not thousands, of voter’s ballots and return them to the elections offices or polling locations.”
The thing is it is NOT illegal in Arizona for a person to collect ballots and turn them in for others. The President of the CBA even said that such ballot collection happens all the time and each ballot is sealed to prevent tampering.
LaFaro, however, contended that the ballots are the result of “ballot parties” which he claims allow empty ballots to be filled out en masse for the benefit of the Latino community.
Yet, while there is no evidence that this is true, just LaFaro’s and the Blaze’s accusations were enough to send conservatives in a tizzy, some even penning death threats to the man who brought of box of ballots into a polling place and is Hispanic.
“This is a high crime, it is treason to this country and a betrayal of democracy,”someone with the handle ‘World Power’ wrote under the video. “This should be a crime punishable by death.”
“I am going to find this illegal-loving scumbag and kill him,” wrote JE Scott, garnering 32 likes for a death threat against a man helping his neighbors vote.
