Fox Host: Liberals Turned on Bill Cosby Because He ‘Ridiculed Ghetto Talk and Thuggery’

Actor and comedian Bill Cosby has been facing ridicule since allegations of of rape surfaced recently.

According to one Fox News anchor, though, the real reason liberals are turning their back on Cosby is not because of his alleged misconduct, but because he talks like a common sense conservative.

On Tuesday, Howard Kurtz explained why he thinks conservatives are more willing to stand by Cosby.

“Conservatives, who admire the way that Cosby has spoken out against dysfunction and lousy parenting in black families, are skeptical,” Kurtz opined. “Liberals, who view themselves as champions of women’s rights, are abandoning him.”

He then cited a Cosby quote from 2004 which he said spoke against the ‘ghetto talk and thuggery.’

“People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now you have these knuckleheads walking around,” Cosby said a decade ago. “The lower economic people are not holding up their end of the deal. These people are not parenting.”

Kurtz then said it was because of these words, liberals abandoned Cosby and now are way too ready to believe the allegations against the star.

So far, 12 women have come forward with allegations of assault, which Kurtz admitted was a high number. Still, he said the allegations were unproven even if “an awful lot of women have come forward with similar stories.”

He then stressed once again that Cosby’s real problem was his anti-liberal social views.

“Given that Cosby is 77 and some of the allegations are ancient, the country would probably be divided in any event,” Kurtz surmised. “But his status as a polarizing figure in the debate over race and poverty is deepening those divisions.”

Despite Kurtz’s claims, some liberals are in fact sticking by Cosby.

Whoopi Goldberg recently said that she remains skeptical the allegations are true even if he did settle with some of the women.

“Settlements don’t necessarily mean you’re guilty,” the View host said. “You generally settle because you don’t want to put your family through it again…I’m going to reserve my judgement. I have a lot of questions.”
