Al Sharpton To Ted Cruz’s Father: Like Father, Like Son
When asked about the controversial comments by Cruz Sr., Ted Cruz’s office pointed to a statement that the Communications Director, Sean Rushton gave to Mother Jones. The statement by Rushton said, “The selective quotes, taken out of context, mischaracterize the substance of Pastor Cruz’s message.” They added, “Pastor Cruz does not speak for the senator.”
Videos of Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, saying a few controversial things about President Obama recently surfaced. The videos were taking last year during a gathering of Tea Party crowd. Footages show Rafael Cruz telling a crowd that they should send Obama back to back to Kenya among other comments.
Al Sharpton of MSNBC started his show showing footages of Rafael Cruz saying other extreme things about Obama and Obamacare. In one footage, Rafael even compared Obama to former president of Cuba, Fidel Castro.
Sharpton called the comments vile. “Like father, like son,” said Sharpton. He adding, “Now we know the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Sharpton said everyone should care about what Ted Cruz’s father has to say because Rafael Cruz himself has become a rising star in the GOP. Ted Cruz and his father becoming heroes of the Tea Party is a prime example of the right-wing becoming extreme and hateful towards President Obama.
Sharpton points out that Rafael is a special envoy to his son and not just merely a confidant who is doing more than just following his son’s career.
