Sarah Palin Talks About The Unfair Treatment Of Women Candidates
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin joined CNN’s Jake Tapper for an interview to promote her new book and to discuss several issues. Among the issues discussed were sexism and the treatment that a candidate gets because of their appearance.
During the interview, Tapper recalled when Palin talked about the unfair media treatment that Hillary Clinton got when she ran for president because of her gender. Palin suggest that she got the same treatment.
Tapper asked Palin what any woman should expect when running for president.
“She can expect sexism, but you overcome it. You ignore it, thicken your skin and you march forward with your message, your priority and agenda that you believe is right for America,” said Palin. She added, “Hillary Clinton was mistreated when it came to appearances, when it came to wardrobe and petty superficial things that the men don’t ever seem to hear about, but a woman candidate will.”
When Tapper brought up New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s appearance and how it has impacted him, Palin replied, “That’s because it’s been extreme, okay. So it’s hard for some people not to comment on it.”
