Geraldo Rivera: Zimmerman Is Hanging On By A String
Following George Zimmerman’s arraignment, Geraldo Rivera joined Fox News to share his thoughts on Zimmerman and the incident. Rivera described Zimmerman as borderline psychotic.
“My basic reaction is that this man is hanging by a string. I think that he is a borderline psychotic at this point,” said Rivera. He continued, “He’s a person who has so immersed himself in the gun culture, he was lionized by many, by some at least, as a hero. He has no clear direction in his life.” Rivera added, “I think he’s a very, very dangerous person and he could hurt this woman.”
Rivera said he thought that the judge was prudent and not punitive to Zimmerman in this case because the bail was set so low.
Looking at all the incidents, Rivera raised the question, “How much of his acting out now is a function of the trauma he went through in that event and how much of this person was present the night Trayvon Martin lost his life?” Rivera and all agreed that they may never know.
A Florida judge set Zimmerman’s bail at $9,000. In an attempt to set a higher bail, a prosecutor revealed that Zimmerman tried to choke his girlfriend a week and a half before yesterday’s incident. Zimmerman was also denied possession of weapons, ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device, have no contact with Samantha Scheibe, to stay away from two Florida addresses, and not allowed to leave Florida.
