Jon Stewart Blasts Media For Blowing Obama-Castro Handshake Out Of Proportion
During Mandela’s memorial, President Obama shook hands with Cuban leader Raul Castro. Jon Stewart finds it ironic that the media is trying to blow a simple handshake out of proportion when honoring the life of Nelson Mandela, who was all about forgiving and embracing his foes and tormentors.
Stewart argued, “Attending that, Obama had the audacity to greet another world leader with a gesture so meaningless, you can train a Basset Hound to do it.”
Stewart then blasted John McCain for comparing Raul Castro to Hitler. He said, “Raul Castro isn’t even Fidel Castro. He’s like Cuba’s Jim Belushi. He’s good, but he aint John!” He then pointed out that Cuba is not the only country with a spotty record of imprisoning people in Cuba. Stewart then shows an image of an American prison. Going back to slam McCain, Stewart shows an image of McCain shaking the hands with Muammar al-Gaddafi.
Stewart finds it unbelievable that people in American is upset over a handshake when Mandela can even invite his own capture to his inauguration.
Stewart pointed out that Obama did almost everything right and behaved just fine, but suggests that the selfie was “kind of f***ed up!”
