Larry Pratt: Current Gun Legislations Are Lethal, It Is Killing People

Guns advocate, Larry Pratt, joins Fox News’ Chris Wallace to discuss the current gun legislations. He points out those gun-free zones are “murder magnets.”

Pratt said, “We’re not really able to talk about a victory until we get rid of the laws that prohibit people from being able to protect themselves in schools and in other places.” He added that all of the mass murders occurred in gun-free zones.

Pratt continued, “The legislation that is on the books is lethal. It is killing people. All of these gun-free zones are murder magnets, and we’ve simply got to get rid of them. It’s an illusion to think that somehow we’re going to be safer because we can’t have a gun in a particular area, because the bad guy is going to have a gun.”

Wallace pointed out that 90% of the people in the country, including gun owners support expanded gun control after the Newtown incident.

Pratt disagrees with the poll, saying, “Chris, I would dispute those polls. I don’t think 90% of Americans agree on anything, and from what we were finding, the notion that somehow gun owners were part of that 90% didn’t jive with what we found with our members, with what the NRA found with their members. Gun Owners of America doesn’t put any credence in those polls, and the fact is, I don’t think that Congress didn’t either, because they weren’t hearing that from their constituents.”

Wallace showed a clip of President Obama saying that we need to make it harder for people to get their hands on guns so easily in order to address the issues of gun. Obama also said that more must be done to heal trouble minds.

“The President is looking at the wrong end of the telescope,” said Pratt. He argued that background checks are not a crime-fighting tool. Pratt said if we’re really concern about those who have mental or criminal problems, then we should put them in jail.
