Jake Tapper To Lone Navy SEAL Survivor: I Didn’t Say They Died For Nothing

Former U.S. Navy SEAL, Marcus Luttrell, rips CNN’s Jake Tapper sharing his thoughts on the movie, Lone Survivor. Tapper was accused of suggesting that Luttrell’s fellow SEALs died for nothing in Afghanistan. He said that it’s not what he meant.

“One of the emotions I felt while watching the film is first of all the hopelessness of the situation, how horrific it was and all that loss of life, of these brave American men,” said Tapper. He added, “And I was torn about the message of the film in the same way I feel about the war in Afghanistan itself. I don’t want any more senseless American death.”

Luttrell attacked Tapper, saying he didn’t get any of those feelings from the film. He responded, “We spend our whole life to defend this country and then we were sent over there by this country. So you’re telling me that because we were there doing what we were told by our country, what, that we died for nothing?”

Tapper suggested that the men were asked to go on an operation without having enough backup and questions the planning of the operation cost nineteen men their lives.

Tapper also engaged in an intense battle to defend his comments on Twitter.
